I'm really enjoying this series and hope they keep coming!I like the rapport between characters and appreciate the relationships. We know the good feelings between Nikki and her boyfriend sans any detailed love scenes. It's refreshing!
I think I liked this book the best so far! Fun adventure and suspense and a quirky twist. Looking forward to the next.
I really enjoy this series. Each book just gets better. If you haven't read any of Wendy Meadow's books, I highly recommend all of them.
I always enjoy Wendy Meadows story plots. Endings are usually a surprise.
Good quick reads. No thinking required. If you are looking for filler books in between book club books, this series fits the bill
This book seems as though it was written by a different author than the author of the first 7 of the series, and the new author hadn't bothered to read the earlier works. The tone of this work was different, less dark. The prior works were filled with conspiracies fostered by politicians, the FBI, and law enforcement. The sentence structures differ. Book 8 has more short sentences that are simply subject-verb while the sentence structure of the earlier books are longer and more complex, Yes, those are vague observations.On a more concrete footing, there were major inconsistencies. The Hawk character had warm memories of the holidays, but Book 1 mentions that he had been raised by his divorced mother and had moved back to Maple Hill to try to establish a relationship with his father, Chief Daily. Through Book 7 the Tori character lives with Nikki, but is only visiting the house for Thanksgiving in this book. In earlier books, the police department has 5 people, but this book mentioned two rookie officers from a different division. Also, the photograph of the author looks different from the author's photograph in prior novels. Is Wendy Meadows a pseudonym?
An enjoyable short murder mystery, about 76 pages. I liked the beginning of the book best, which took place at the chocolate shop - yum! This is the first book that I've read in the series. Nikki is an amateur sleuth who helps her boyfriend, Detective Hawk Bailey, solve murders. At first his name was only given as Hawk so I didn't know if it was his last name or a nickname. Some drama in the book with Nikki's son's older girlfriend. The murder didn't happen right away, almost halfway through, but when it did it was easy to get interested in. The victim wasn't a nice person so there could be lots of suspects. Interesting characters; the main characters are likeable, Tori too. I would be interested in reading more stories by the author in this series and her other ones also.
