So most of my courses in school have required us to purchase books that we don't use. Argh! I would not be fooled again so I purchased this pocket guide and found the PDF older version of this book and it was perfect. I rarely used this book (see a theme here) but when I did there was a wealth of information coupled with the free older pdf version of the book. I recommend this pocket guide over the textbook and I will be carrying this in my white coat for my FM rotations.P.S. Delivery was fast and what I wanted (new condition).
I was very skeptical at first because of the size of the pocket guide; however, I am glad that I ordered it anyway. Over 400 pages seem ridiculous but Bate's has really done it. The pages are easy to read, the print is big enough, it helps having the main points right out of the regular size book, and it fits in your pocket. I highly recommend this to anyone having to do history taking and physical exams (MD, APN, RN, LPN, EMT, etc).
I'm a FNP student and used this A LOT during clinicals. Fits in my lab coat pocket. Great tool to use to go over focused physical exams before you see a patient. Exams are broken down into different systems.
Great for med students learning the physical exam! Even has ddx of common complaints.
I had the little blue one years back when I was in the BSN program, after it was stolen it never got replaced until now. I'm back in school for FNP, so I plan on putting this in my pocket when I initially start clinicals for those "ah ha" moments.
Love this book. Very easy to read and the size is just right to carry around with you. I use this more than I thought I would to write SOAP notes and to guide assessments I don't do on a regular basis. This was a requirement for school but I use it now in my current practice.
This book is very handy to have for the NP student especially if you are using the Bates textbook. It breaks the chapters down into an overview of the important stuff. Great review before a test as it compliments the textbook great!
Rented the ebook, so it was not a complete book. Only had highlights, pictures and summary. Pretty useless if you're trying to learn for school, but may be an ok resource for clinical.
